As this year is slowly winding down; for me personally, I am looking down a very long list of achievements that were said to be impossible for this little girl.
Very much a three year old that she is.....Just looking at her, could you tell right off that she could not; talk, see to a distance, stand alone, walk unaided, dress or toilet herself....
But; she can; lighten up a room with her personality and smile
Just for a moment, we'd like the world to see her as we do; a little child that gets bruised elbows and knees, be active in play without putting our own self serving limits on what she "can't do."
She can and she will prove all the doubters wrong....
She is three, she goes to organized swim classes and goes to a community preschool....
No "special treatment" here!
Yes, she does have physiotherapy, occupational therapy, communication classes, have doctors appointments and Children's hospital visits for; scoliosis back treatments visits with her neurosurgeon, ears-nose and throat and her pediatrician....She does takes medicine for prolonged epileptic seizures and have inhalers for her breathing...and have leg braces and eye glasses...
But she gets "no special treatment:" just extra care because of her personal difficulties and challenges....
However she is and that we are thankful!!! Happy Canadian "Thanksgiving Day!"
